Cannes International Film Festival 2008

We were given some tickets by our friends to go see the movie Blindness on the opening night. It was a formal dress affair and Gene had to buy a bow tie for 15 euros to be able to get in – who thought that one would need a tux!!!

We did not see any celebrities we recognized~not surprised ~ but got to walk on the red carpet like one of them!!

The Village of Biot

We continue to visit villages and our next visit takes us to Biot, another picturesque perched medieval village dating back to 154BC located about 20km from Nice and very close to the beaches.

Famous for its pottery, Biot is also renowned for its glassworks; clear/colored transparent glass with bubbles. One can watch the glass blowing process at glassworks located downhill from the village.

Exporose in Grasse ~Perfume Capital of the World

As if we did not have enough roses on the previous posting. Here’s more. The Rose Festival is an annual event in the town of Grasse to celebrate the place of the rose in the history of perfume. This year it was from 8-11 May. There were rose plants for sale, and rose-growers from all regions had roses entered in the competition for the most beautiful and sweetest smelling rose.

As you walk across the beautiful displays, it is really difficult judge the best one ~to us, all of them are simply gorgeous.
